<image:title>Our Team - Megan Moran LMHC, Executive Director (she/her)</image:title>
<image:caption>Megan has worked in the mental health field for over 18 years, primarily with adolescents and young adults. Her professional career started as a high school English teacher, and through this work she became interested in personal and societal factors that influence identity development. She is a principal investigator and co-investigator on four Institutional Review Board-approved studies looking at the efficacy of mental health supports on emotional growth and future outcomes. As the Executive Director of Cultivate Care Farms since 2019, Megan and her team have grown from seeing an average of 35 clients per week to an average of 180 clients per week. In continuing to develop Farm-Based Therapy as an evidence-based form of mental health treatment, Megan’s goals are to continue to de-stigmatize mental health support for individuals and their families, to increase access to mental health supports, and to build community around wellness opportunities.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Team - Sarah Douglas, Assistant Director (she/her)</image:title>
<image:caption>Sarah’s approach integrates person-centered, strengths-based therapeutic techniques with the grounding, restorative elements of farm life. She believes that working with animals, caring for plants, and engaging in hands-on farm activities can significantly enhance emotional well-being and foster personal growth. Sarah is passionate about helping clients reconnect with themselves through the rhythms of nature, and she believes Cultivate Care Farms provides clients with unique and personalized experiences through which meaningful therapeutic work can take place. Sarah completed her graduate internship at CCF and became part of the full-time clinical staff after graduating in 2024. She holds an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Merrimack College. She is currently working toward licensure in Massachusetts.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Team - Sammi Olarsch LCSW, Director of Partnerships & Programming (she/her)</image:title>
<image:caption>Sammi is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) who earned her Master’s of Social Work with a certificate in Trauma and Violence from the Boston University School of Social Work and her Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology and Education from Skidmore College. Prior to joining the Cultivate Care community, Sammi spent nearly three years as a Clinician and Program Director at therapeutic after-school and summer camp programs. Her experience working alongside latency aged youth who have historically been excluded from mainstream recreational programming due to their social-emotional and neuro-developmental exceptionalities has only affirmed the importance of centering belonging in her approach. Sammi is dedicated to co-constructing a therapeutic relationship where young people feel seen and safe in bringing all of the pieces of their most authentic selves. Sammi believes in children and youth’s capacity to claim or reclaim their inner purpose, power and radical possibilities, and honors that this can happen through collective care of the land, exploration of the natural world as a glimpse into their inner world, and connection to the animals’ unique needs and gifts. Growing up, Sammi spent seven summers attending farm camp, and is grateful to be practicing in a space where she feels so at peace!</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Team - Sam Sundermeyer LMHC, ATR, Clinician / Administrator (she/her)</image:title>
<image:caption>Sam is a LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) and ATR (Registered Art Therapist) who began working at CCF in 2017. Prior to the farm, she provided in-home therapy through The Guidance Center, as well as conducted safety assessments, and facilitated group and outpatient therapy in the Somerville and Cambridge public schools. Sam believes that therapy is most effective when children feel secure, validated and safe, and it is undeniable that farm-based therapy is uniquely suited to meet these needs. Clients are often immediately at ease around the animals, and the therapeutic alliance is able to grow much more quickly than in traditional settings. Sam notes that her clients have experienced great joy by being able to express their emotions in the freedom of the outdoors and by building relationships with the Farm’s animals.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Team - Kiersten Gilbert, Clinician (she/her)</image:title>
<image:caption>Kiersten (she/her) believes in the power of connection and operates under the fundamental truth that individuals thrive when they are truly heard, accepted as their authentic selves, and encouraged. Her therapeutic approach is collaborative, relational, and client-centered, honoring each person's unique relationships and curiosities. She firmly believes that the natural world acts as a co-therapist and teacher. For Kiersten, time spent outdoors holds an incredible capacity to calm the nervous system, spark creative expression, and invite lasting clinical growth. Kiersten enjoys supporting youth, young adults, and family systems with a clinical focus on relational issues, attachment ruptures, and complex trauma. Her clinical background spans a variety of settings, including outpatient practices, public school systems, residential facilities, and summer camps. In each of these environments, Kiersten integrates her specialized Ecotherapy training to help clients cultivate their own unique relationships with the living world. She invites them to connect with nature through intentional time spent outside, meaningful interactions with animals, and the use of natural metaphors to explore their inner experiences. To meet clients where they are, she utilizes an integrative framework that pulls from parts work (IFS), attachment-based modalities, strengths-based approaches, and collaborative problem-solving. Having recently relocated to Massachusetts from Oregon, Kiersten brings a lifelong love for the environment to the farm. She grew up hiking through old-growth forests, rock climbing in the high desert, and greeting every neighborhood dog along the way. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from Oregon State University and an M.A. in Professional Mental Health Counseling with a certificate in Ecotherapy from Lewis & Clark College. Kiersten feels deeply privileged to combine her love for the natural world with her clinical passion, utilizing the unique farm setting to build relationships where young people feel empowered to create meaningful change. Kiersten is currently working towards her licensure in Massachussetts..</image:caption>

<image:caption>Michele is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student completing her internship at Cultivate Care Farm. She earned a bachelor's degree in Human Growth and Development from Anna Maria College and a master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Worcester State University. A Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) since 2019, Michele was inspired to deepen her work after recognizing the growing need for social-emotional support in schools. She spent more than 23 years in public education, primarily teaching kindergarten, where she incorporated mindfulness, movement, social-emotional learning, and relationship-building practices into the classroom. Michele believes that self-awareness is a superpower. Through meaningful relationships, mindfulness, movement, and connection to the natural world, she helps children and adolescents better understand how they are uniquely wired, embrace their strengths, and learn to work with their challenges instead of against them. She encourages clients to recognize that many traits once viewed as weaknesses have the potential to become strengths when we understand them, accept them, and learn how to use them intentionally. In her experience, growth happens organically when people feel seen, understood, connected, and accepted. Michele is especially drawn to Cultivate Care Farm because it reflects the values at the heart of her work. She finds there is something profoundly grounding about being outdoors. Nature invites us to slow down, while animals have a remarkable way of helping us feel safe, connected, and accepted—simply by being themselves.</image:caption>
